In Aug of 2016 I convinced a good friend to hike the 100 mile Arctic Circle Trail in Greenland. As we were landing at the only “international” airport in Greenland at Kangerlussuaq (how do you say that?), we didn’t see a lot of green but we did see a lot of ice. The local joke is Iceland is mostly green and Greenland is mostly ice. Which I think is mostly true. We spent a day hiking on the Polar Ice Cap then the next day with we set off with very heavy packs in pursuit of the coastal town of Sisimut. We met a lot of great people on the trail (see “Rahan and Nina” under Stories gallery) and we also had plenty of solo time. The landscape is treeless and the trail is not always well marked, but we managed to find our way. If you’are the hiking type, you should put this trail on your list. Oh, and I almost forgot the trail was on fire, see “Trail on Fire” under Stories gallery.
